American Airlines, in keeping with its mobility strategy, today announced that it has launched the airline industry’s first employee iPhone travel app, JetAway, for personal and confirmed business non-revenue travel use by employees and retirees. For the first time ever, AMR employees and retirees who own an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad will have a mobile application specifically designed for their personal or confirmed business non-revenue travel that will allow them to check in for a flight, check flight details on any confirmed and upcoming non-revenue trips, get gate and time information and priority list details – just in time for holiday travel. JetAway for iPhone is just the first in a series of mobility solutions that American will roll out for its employees over the coming months. The JetAway app gives employees tailored functionality for non-revenue personal and confirmed business travel, but mirrors the American Airlines iPhone application launched in July 2010 for customers.
